control and a flush painted finish.

EKC-1

Concealed Grid Ceiling

A suspended ceiling built on a fully concealed galvanised steel grid. Main channels are hung from the soffit on adjustable suspension members; hat-shaped furring channels run across them and receive the boards. All joints are taped and filled so that the finished soffit reads as a single flat plane, ready for paint or applied decoration.

Key benefits

  • Light in weight and adaptable to almost any soffit geometry
  • Conceals cable trays, ductwork and other services within the void
  • Quick to install using dry construction methods
  • Cost effective, and shortens the overall construction programme

Performance

  • Fire resistance of up to 2 hours, subject to the tested assembly selected
  • Sound insulation of up to 70 dB when installed beneath a concrete floor slab
  • Fire and acoustic performance are improved by adding board layers
  • Mineral wool laid over the boards further improves acoustic performance in the void

Acoustic Isolated Ceiling

EKC-2 is a high-performance acoustic ceiling. Galvanised main channels are suspended from the structure on
threaded rods fitted with acoustic isolation hangers, which interrupt the path for structure-borne vibration. Furring
channels are screw-fixed across the main channels with wafer-head screws at every intersection, and up to four
layers of fire-rated board are fixed to the underside with joints staggered between layers. The face layer is taped
and jointed to give a continuous surface ready for decoration, and a mineral wool blanket is laid over the completed
system.

Key benefits

  • Isolation hangers break the vibration path between slab and ceiling
  • Suited to cinemas, auditoria, studios, hotels and hospitals
  • Accepts up to four board layers for demanding fire and acoustic ratings
  • Installed dry, with services concealed in the ceiling void

Performance

  • Fire resistance of up to 2 hours, subject to the tested assembly selected
  • Sound insulation of up to 70 dB beneath a concrete floor slab
  • Performance rises with additional board layers and cavity insulation
